Itinerary
Today will be a great travel day to get acquainted with get-to-know-you games, Bingo, trivia, and of course, snacks! Tonight, we will arrive in Nashville and stay at Glo Best Western after a stop for dinner.
After a hot breakfast, we will travel to Ruby Falls near Chattanooga, TN. Take a leisurely half-mile walk into the center of Lookout Mountain to the largest underground waterfall in the United States. This 145-foot fall funnels 300 gallons of water per minute into a subterranean river. The gorgeous falls are highlighted with colored lights and a reflecting pool. Tonight, we will stay at Holiday Inn Express south of Atlanta, Georgia.
This morning we will enjoy the views of the south before we arrive in historic Savannah. After lunch, we begin our visit on a Savannah Riverboat Cruise with intriguing tales and historical facts about the ships that visit from all over the world. Before checking into our hotel in the historic district, we will visit Old Fort Jackson and get some great pictures of the riverfront and skyline. Tonight, we will have an included dinner at one of Savannah's popular restaurants.
After an included breakfast, we will have a guided walking/driving tour of Savannah’s “Hostess City”. We will see some antebellum homes, Forsyth Park, Savannah’s Squares, Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, River Street and more. After lunch on your own, we will tour Bonaventure Cemetery, one of the 10 most beautiful cemeteries in the world. Later, you will have time to explore Savannah’s historic district on your own. Dinner tonight is at Paula Deen’s The Lady & Son’s Restaurant. Our evening will conclude with a performance at the Historic Savannah Theatre!
This morning begins another fun-filled day with our tour guide as we leave for Tybee Island, a strategic outpost during the Civil War and home to the oldest and tallest lighthouse in Georgia. Later this morning, we will embark on a Dolphin Cruise and encounter dolphins in their natural habitat. This afternoon, we will return to the hotel for some free time. You might want to catch a trolley if you aren’t ready to rest. Tonight, after an included dinner, you will experience a “Smith Tours Surprise” activity. Be ready for some fun on our last night together in Savannah!
We will check out of our comfortable historic district hotel and make our way back to Nashville tonight where we will overnight at Glo Best Western. It will look very familiar!
Many conversations will be had today describing all of the incredible sights and activities we have experienced together the past six days as we make our way back home.
